Writing implements (pens and pencils) have always been the bread and butter of corporate communications for as long as I can remember. They are popular with all businesses and are by far what we sell most of, and if you can have a branded pen, then why wouldn’t you?

There are thousands of options of pens available to be branded (and many sustainable options too), but to find which is best for your business depends on a combination of factors:

Budget

Buy the best you can afford as a pen can be seen by many current and potential customers and the pen is likely to be viewed as what your company represents.

Type

Standard plastic pen options are fast being replaced by more sustainable options – some are made from part recycled plastic (rPET) or are partly recyclable. If your budget allows it, spend more on a bamboo or metal one.

Colour

Your logo or corporate colours might help you decide what colour pen to choose.

Size of branding area

The message you want to put on a pen will help you choose the right pen for you. Some pens can only be engraved or printed in a single line where the branding area is very small, whereas others can be full colour or digitally printed and cover a large area of the barrel or be engraved 360 degrees. You may also want to consider branding more than one area to get around more limited branding areas, for example a contact number or website on the clip or to the reverse of the barrel.

Quantity

Many cheaper pens have a minimum order quantity of 250 units, whereas more costly metal ones may start with just 25 at a time. A few pens are available to order in single units, but this will work out very expensive. If this appeals have a browse at our no-minimum website:
